No door had been shut for Agric graduates in the 2nd Republic: CAGOZ

The Coalition of Agricultural Graduates in Zimbabwe (CAGOZ) has applauded Government for its unwavering support to young farmers and agriculture graduates.

Speaking to this publication, CAGOZ President, Mr Dickson Kubvakacha said that young people trained in agriculture are products of the Ministry of Lands, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement and have inherited an unbreakable relationship of parent and son.

“Honestly no door has been shut for agriculture graduates in the Second Republic. We access every office at will and we are never excluded. Our skills are being utilised in different farms for production. CAGOZ is an apolitical organisation which seeks to create opportunities for agriculture graduates to be part of the drivers of economic development”, said Mr Kubvakacha.

Kubvakacha added that these graduates are working towards the success of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 of attaining an Upper Middle Class Income Economy status.

“We have our skilled young people who are seeking to partner with different stakeholders in various agricultural disciplines to increase production. Our ultimate goal is to be part of the Vision 2030 journey as young people, through the guidance of our leadership”, reiterated Mr Kubvakacha.

Ministry of Lands, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Youth Desk Coordinator, Mr Nikros Kajengo, encouraged young people to remain disciplined and focused on production.

“Youths should be drivers of the economy as we have learnt from our principals. Let’s remain principled and organised, the doors are open for everyone. The New Dispensation is a listening Government and is ready to empower the youths”, said Mr Kajengo.

Youth in Agriculture Apex Council Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Memory Chakwita concurred with Kajengo on the need for unity and discipline among young people. She alluded that Zimbabwe needs energetic, creative and well-oriented young people to be part of the economic transformation.

“CAGOZ is a good initiative and as Youth in Agriculture Apex Council we will ensure we work together with them”, pledged Mrs Chakwita.

Recently, CAGOZ gained traction on social media being accused of mobilising demonstrations against Government for allegedly failing to provide employment to agriculture graduates. Mr Kubvakacha has since apologised over the reports and pledged that CAGOZ seeks to create employment for these graduates through advocating for distribution of unutilised land to same.
