The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Honourable Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Dr.Sibusiso Moyo has sent a condolence message following the death of Ambassador Florence Chitauro.
In a press statement yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Sibusiso Moyo said, "The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Honourable Ltd. Gen. (Rtd) Dr.S.B Moyo, the Deputy Minister, Honourable David Musabayana, the Secretary, Ambassador J.Manzou and the entire staff in the Ministry, learnt with profound grief and sadness the passing on of Ambassador Florence Chitauro on 19 October 2020, at her home in Borrowdale Brooke."
Minister Moyo went on to say, "The Ministry wishes to convey our deep and heartfelt condolences to His Excellency, Cde Emerson Mnangagwa, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, the Chitauro children and the entire Chitauro family on this very sad and unfortunate loss.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time."
Minister Moyo said that Ambassador Chitauro would always be remembered for her contribution in Government and in particular her illustrious career in the Foreign Service during which she served as Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Australia where she served with distinction during the most trying period of Zimbabwe’s history that is from 2001 to 2006.
He went on to say that Ambassador Chitauro was a dedicated diplomat.
"She was a brilliant and dedicated diplomat who will forever be missed.
"May the departed soul of Ambassador Chitauro rest in eternal peace," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
