Battle of MDC shadow first ladies

By Staff Reporter

Internal strife within MDC- Alliance are reaching boiling point as the race for relevance and recognition between Fadzayi Mahere and Joana Mamombe is reported to have thickened.

Sources within the MDC-A have revealed that there is a huge political fight between Mahere and Mamombe. One of them is set to succeed either Job Sikhala or Tendai Biti who will be booted out of their positions in the party by Chamisa at an opportune time.

Party leader, Nelson Chamisa who was once close to Mamombe is reported to have developed a closer relationship with Mahere who is now much more likely to win the so called, “Battle of the MDC-A Shadow First Ladies.”

The relationship between Chamisa and the two powerful ladies has caused discomfort among other MDC-A leaders who believe that the two are being fast tracked into leadership positions because of their closeness to the MDC-A leader. The incessant crises in the MDC-A are partly attributed to what MDC veterans have referred to as the “unhealthy closeness of Nero to the Shadow First Ladies.”

An MDC-A official said that Mamombe had the potential to surprise Mahere. The official said that Mamombe had a holistic approach to politics and that she can employ ‘tactical, strategic, metaphysical or spiritual and physical’ methods. He observed that Mahere would, however be the best candidate to replace Biti as she was increasingly becoming the darling of the West. “In the end Chamisa may elevate both ladies when he dumps ambitious and scheming elements,” the official said.
