The MDC-Alliance Bulawayo Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) has been sharply divided over a resolution to reinstate suspended Bulawayo Provincial Women`s Assembly Chairlady, Tendai Masotsha, before a disciplinary hearing.
Masotsha was suspended in August 2020, on suspicious of selling out by involving herself in the alleged abduction of Tawanda Muchehiwa.
Bulawayo Provincial Assembly Chairperson, James Sithole presided over the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting held on 12 September 2020, which made the decision to reinstate Masotsha.
The resolution to reinstate Masotsha was made despite the fact that her case has not yet been heard before a disciplinary committee.
According to a contact, the pronouncement that Masotsha maintains her position pending disciplinary action was received with anger by many among them MDC-Alliance Provincial Spokesperson, Swithern Chirowodza, who threatened not to attend meetings, if Masotsha is reinstated.
During the same meeting, Sithole bemoaned rumoured plans by some of the party members, who are mooting crossing the floor to the Khupe faction. This was in reference to MDC-Alliance Bulawayo Provincial Organising Secretary, Helen Ziviri, who is reportedly not attending party meetings, as she decides on her future.
Sithole further alleged that the current lockdown restrictions imposed by the Government were meant to cripple the opposition.
Meanwhile, the MDC-T has recalled and expelled eight Bulawayo councillors stating that they no longer represent interests of that party in the council.
The recalled councillors are Zana Clayton (Ward 19),Maposa Tinevimbo (Ward 21),Rafamoyo Ernest (Ward 20) and Mabuto Donald (Ward 9).
Others include Kambarami Tinashe (Ward 3),Milo Lilian (Ward 12),Mlalazi Concilia (Ward 18) and Hlabano Norman (Ward).
The Khupe faction continues to weaken the MDC-Alliance as more of its councillors and House of Assembly members are being recalled, whilst those fearing the recall are crossing the floor to the MDC-T.
