Ndarama High School in Masvingo province has named its new Science Laboratory block after the late Major General, Trust Mugova.
The new block was built by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces as part of its Military Assistance to Civil Communities (MACC).
Speaking during the handover ceremony on Friday in Masvingo, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira said Major General Mugova was one of the brains behind the project.
“I am reliably informed that the project I am handing over today is a brain child of one of our liberation icons, the late Major General Trust Mugova who in 2016, at the handover ceremony of a Classroom block, promised to assist Ndarama High School in the construction of a state of the art Science laboratory which will be named after him” he said.
Minister Chadzamira said the late National hero was a well-respected figure not only in Masvingo but also in the country, the region and beyond because of his unquestionable liberation credentials and distinguished service in the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.
He thanked the able and visionary guidance by His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa for instilling servant leadership and the need to address challenges in all communities.
Minister Chadzamira emphasised the need for team work and urged the people to value a system which includes hard work, commitment, loyalty and patriotism in fulfilling Vision 2030.
He said, “No one is more important than the other. Our roles may be different but they are all complementary.
“Innovation and application of science and technology are the foundation upon which modernisation and industrialisation of economies are built. The Science laboratory is therefore a key infrastructure in developing the young minds behind industry and research and development. Indeed catch them young.”
The Minister donated 100 chicks for an Agriculture project at the school and also promised to drill two boreholes, which are going to be used to revive the fish ponds project at the school.
This positive development at Ndarama High School is in line with President Mnangagwa`s goal of attaining an Upper Middle Income Economy by 2030.
