Vice President Kembo Mohadi said Government was committed to the allocation of resources for infrastructure projects.
Speaking during the commissioning of Pembi Bridge in Mvurwi today, Vice President Mohadi said, “It is my honour and privilege to officiate at the commissioning of the Pembi Bridge. Modern and appropriate infrastructure remains a key enabler for accelerated economic growth and development as well as the achievement of our National Vision 2030.
“Hence, the completion of this bridge is a notable achievement which will have a positive impact on the accessibility of this area and enhance the safety of road users. Furthermore, the bridge, irrespective of its size, is significant for its strategic utility whose importance extends beyond the surrounding Districts and Mashonaland Central Province.
“Government under the administration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa will continue to prioritise the allocation of resources for infrastructure projects. It is pleasing that we are undertaking various projects, in particular roads and bridges in all our provinces using our own resources, with no help from outside financiers or investors,” said Vice President Mohadi.
He said that under the administration of President Mnangagwa, the people`s quality of life shall be improved.
“The administration of President Mnangagwa shall continue in its quest to improve the quality of life of the people and achieve equitable development and where possible, equalisation that leaves no one behind,” he said.
Vice President Mohadi said the completion of the bridge would facilitate the acceleration of the growth of agriculture, mining, tourism and other sectors in Guruve, Mbire and Muzarabani Districts.
He further challenged the surrounding communities to play an active part in their development through economic activities that will meaningfully contribute to the Provincial Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as well as improve their income base and quality of life.
“You should never permit a situation where you are mere spectators to development. Be active participants. Rest assured that Government under President Mnangagwa`s leadership will continue to facilitate an environment where you can succeed.
“The prosperity and achievement of higher standard of living for our people, no matter where they live, is important,” he said.
Analysts have commended the building of infrastructure saying that it is fulfilling Government’s agenda of providing opportunities for reconstruction and transformation of the economy to ensure, the creation of maximum opportunities for people to live a full and dignified life.
