Vice President Kembo Mohadi on Thursday toured Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) projects to get an appreciation of efforts being pursued by the institution to fight COVID-19 and grow the country's economy.
VP Mohadi was accompanied by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa, Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Professor Amon Murwira, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West province, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka and Deputy Minister of Land, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement, Vangelis Haritatos among others.
The VP and his delegation toured the university’s facemasks and sanitisers production units and the department of Germ Plasm and Reproductive Technology.
Vice President Mohadi, who is also the national chairperson of the COVID-19 task force, applauded the university for coming up with modern solutions to modern challenges.
“These efforts speak to the importance of the universities and the 5.0 education, which seeks to produce students that are innovative and industrial, is critical towards progress needed by our people.
“A new industry of the future is being born around the tertiary institutions and the developments we witnessed here that seek to address national challenges should be emulated by all tertiary institutions around the country," said Vice President Mohadi.
