Information unearthed by the Harare Post has revealed that the MDC’s Bulawayo Provincial Assembly integration process was a fraud with that party’s Women’s Assembly chairlady, Tendai Masotsha demanding bribes from members of the other faction in order for them to be included for integration in the executive.
A provincial assembly executive member who spoke to the publication on condition of anonymity detailed how Masotsha as the overseer of the integration process would demand bribes from members for them to be roped in the executive.
“She (Masotsha) demanded cash from those aligned to Gift Banda faction in order for them to be integrated in the new executive. Those who were incorporated forked out money as they feared being left out of the integration.
“She even threatened to freeze some out if they revealed her demands to anyone especially to the party leadership at Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House in Harare.” He said.
The resolution to integrate the two factions came about after factional fighting between the camp aligned to Chamisa was accused of rigging the Bulawayo Provincial Assembly elections to elbow out those aligned to the Deputy Secretary of International Relations, Douglas Mwonzora in the rum up to that party’s primary elections.
This is not the first time that Masotsha has been embroiled in money scandal as she is still to face disciplinary action for hoodwinking party members into believing that provincial assembly member, Linda Sibanda’s operation was quoted in US dollars when it was in actual fact quoted in Zimbabwean dollars with both members ending up pocketing the excess money donated by fellow members.
