Early Christmas treat for Chiweshe elderly

By Patience Rashai

Following yesterday’s Chachacha visit, the First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa, has this Wednesday yet again visited Chiweshe – in Centenary, for an old people’s pre-Christmas cheer visit, in line with her philanthropic work.

The visit aimed at visiting and interacting with the elderly, providing groceries to the less privileged commensurate with the spirit of Christmas, and encouraging women to work together in assisting the needy in the community.

Amai Mnangagwa surprised many with her appreciation of the rural set-up as she and the Minister of State for Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs, Senator Monica Mavhunga assisted in cleaning and household chores.

As part of her visit, the philanthropist passed by Gogo Eneresi Jasi's homestead, in Kujogo village, who recently lost her son, Tatenda Mushonga in a recent accident where eight were burnt along Centenary-Mbire Road, to offer her condolences.

First Lady also donated an assortment of groceries to the whole community. This comes barely a week after she, through her Angel of Hope Foundation, donated an assortment of food items to children and old people’s homes.

She urged the community to always practise good hygiene, saying cleanliness was the hallmark of a warm home. The First Lady was accompanied by Ministers, Monica Mavhunga and Kazembe Kazembe and other senior Government officials.
