MDC members have castigated MDC Secretary General, Chalton Hwende for not prioritising party internal programmes but squander the party’s hard earned resources with international trips, Harare Post can reveal.

Speaking to this publication, an insider in the MDC Bulawayo Provincial Executive Committee who preferred anonymity revealed that the party leadership was doing little to support the grassroots members, yet the post their pictures while they are abroad.

“The party is struggling to fund our internal visibility programmes yet we see personalities like Hwende posting pictures in Germany on party business. Where are they getting the money? What is more hurting is that we are compelled to pay subscriptions and MPs are also forced to pay fixed monthly subscriptions yet there is no single cent being disbursed to provinces. Where is the money going?” lamented the source.

He further expressed to this publication that MDC Bulawayo Provincial Office is owing ZESA and Bulawayo City Council (BCC)  about ZWL $45 000 and the party is failing to meet the payments.

“What surprises me is that there is no initiation from the party to pay up the bills yet they manage to fly abroad where they are posting pictures like high school kids. They are literally bringing nothing home out of those international trips. The party is still wallowing in financial constraints,” said the source.

Hwende posted pictures on his twitter handle this Tuesday whilst he was on a trip and tour in Germany, a move which drew a lot of attention from the MDC members.
