The MDC Veterans Activist Association (VAA) has slammed MDC leadership calling them ‘political criminals’, Harare Post reports.
A statement released by MDC VAA head of security, Oliver Zireva, this Tuesday stated that, the current state of MDC is dominated by political criminals who are fuelling factional fights at the expense of party order.
“We cannot remain silent as VAA whilst the party is under siege by our leadership. Our leadership pretends to be the ‘messiahs,’ yet they are after money in the guise of opposition politics.
“We entrust these supreme decision makers in the party yet they behave like infiltrators who have been sent by Zanu PF to destabilise MDC. We as VAA have also noted with concern that the current party leadership has encircled itself with bootlickers who are most dangerous in perpetuating violence simply because they cannot say no to immoral activities which tannish the image of the party,” reads part of the statement.
In the same statement, Zireva indicated that VAA will not watch the party being derailed from its founding principles aims and values whilst prioritising ‘stomach politics.’
MDC is apparently being rocked by violent factional fights which date back prior to the party’s 5th National Elective Congress. The major two warring factions involve the MDC leader Nelson Chamisa led camp and the former MDC secretary general Douglas Mwonzora led camp.
