Sakunda Holdings has failed to appear before a Public Accounts hearing today because their Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kudakwashe Tagwirei is out of the country.
This has been announced by Chairperson of Public Accounts, Tendai Biti at a Parliament public hearing today.
Addressing the committee, Biti said that the Public Accounts committee received a letter which highlighted that Tagwirei who was outside the country, wanted the committee to remit the questions to him in writing because it will make the meeting shorter and less time consuming.
"A few minutes we received a letter dated 7th of November 2019 addressed to the Clerk of Parliament Mr Kennedy Chokuda, signed by the Chief Operating Officer of Sakunda, Mr Charles Chitambo Mberikwazvo. In respect of which they advised that their CEO Mr K.R Tagwirei was out of the country and wanted to give evidence in person. He also wants this committee to reschedule,” said Biti.
Part of the postponement letter reads: "In the meantime, in order to aid the work of your esteemed committee whose role is very important in supervising Government work, would l humbly request that the questions which the committee would like to ask Sakunda be remitted to us in writing while the CEO is travelling.”
Sakunda Holdings is supposed to give oral evidence on the contracts for Command Agriculture and Presidential Input Support with Government.
The committee has rescheduled the hearing to this Friday and advised Sakunda Holdings to send a representative if Tagwirei is out of reach.
