Government through the treasury has unveiled US$2 million towards the procurement of drugs and surgical sundries, the Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Obadiah Moyo has said.
Dr Moyo said that Government had allocated the ministry US$2 million to procure medicines and surgical sundries.
“Treasury has availed US$2 million to the MoHCC. We are grateful to treasury which has made US$2 million available for the purchase of medicines and surgical sundries,” said Dr Moyo.
Early this week, the 39th Cabinet Meeting Decision Matrix assured the public that necessary measures were being instituted to ensure that the situation in the health sector returns to normalcy in the shortest possible time. Government has shown commitment through unveiling funding for the procurement of drugs.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is currently undertaking a Zimbabwe National Health Accounts Survey (NHA) for the period of 2017-2018. The NHA is being carried out in conjunction with ZIMSAT and Partners. The survey sensitisation and field work started on 28 October 2019, and will end on 15 November 2019. The last survey was conducted in 2015.
Data collected through the NHA will provide a basis to formulate policies and to improve Government resource allocation to the Health Ministry, The Harare Post has learnt.
