Free Zimbabwe Congress (FZC) leader Joseph Makamba-Busha has endorsed the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa saying that he was given the mandate to lead until 2023, Harare Post reports.
Speaking during a press conference in Harare this week, Makamba-Busha said that he recognizes the leadership of President Mnangagwa by virtue of him winning the 2018 Presidential elections.
Makamba-Busha said he was in in total agreement with the calls for the removal of sanctions. He claimed that he was the first person to petition the US embassy to remove the sanctions. He reasoned that the sanctions are not affecting the so-called targeted citizens but the general populace.
The FZC leader is also advocating for presidential candidates fees to be pegged at ZWL $100 000 so as to get rid of aspirants who are not serious.
President Mnangagwa resoundingly won the 2018 presidential polls with his party, Zanu PF romping to victory with majority in both the House of Assembly and the Senate. Zanu PF party has 179 national assembly seats and 34 Senate seats.
The 2018 poll results were endorsed by most of the observers although the MDC keeps on claiming that they were robbed of their victory. Several other opposition parties which participated in the most democratic elections conceded defeat and subsequently joined President Mnangagwa in the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD), an inclusive platform that affords Zimbabweans an opportunity to discuss issues affecting the country.
