MDC divided over Hong Kong protests

There are serious divisions within the MDC over the protests in Hong Kong China with some party members supporting protestors while others are in support of the Chinese government.

A reliable source told The Harare Post that MDC officials are failing to decide their plan of action over demonstrations in Hong Kong.

“If we are to support protestors, we find ourselves at offence with the Chinese government. As we all know China is an emerging economic giant that we should be in good relations with.

“At the same time we have come to the realisation that China is a Zanu-PF ally, this makes it difficult for us to also support China as an opposition party in Zimbabwe.

“Our support for protestors in China will clearly show that we are in support of American interests back home,” said the source.

China is a United Nations Security Council member responsible for maintaining international peace and security. Remaining earnest towards China ensures us of its support in the future as it has veto powers on the United Nations Charter.

The Harare Post has learnt that demonstrations continue to escalate in China as the Chinese government has put in place a face mask ban recently to quail the protestors who are reportedly destroying the city.
