Addressing the on-going 74th Session of the General Debate at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York today, President Mnangagwa highlighted that the Government is reforming the education sector in line with the modernisation and industrialisation policy.
“In line with our modernisation and industrialisation policy, we are enhancing the quality of our education to make it more relevant for modern technology and innovation,” President Mnangagwa said.
He added, “Greater focus is now on science, technology and innovation while incubation hubs industrial parks are being established throughout the country. In this collaboration with the industry, small to medium enterprises and our education sector for the responsive and relevant human capital development is being facilitated and encouraged.”
The President went on to say that the education system is now focused at producing relevant products, goods and services which answer the ever changing needs of our country and world at large.
The greater part of President Mnangagwa’s speech enlightened the gathering on the progress that the Second Republic has so far made in line with his economic vision of making Zimbabwe an upper middle income economy by the year 2030.
This years’ UNGA meeting is running under theme ‘Galvanizing multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action and inclusion.’
