The ruling party, ZANU-PF has oiled its winning machinery to retain Zaka East constituency in the by-election scheduled for tomorrow.

Zaka East constituency fell vacant following the death of Cde Caston Ringisai Gumbwanda in June this year.

Clemence Chiduwa is ZANU-PF candidate for the Zaka East by-election and will battle with MDC candidate Derick Charamba.

ZANU PF held its final rally last Wednesday at Tapudzai Primary School in ward 26 in that constituency.

Speaking at the rally, ZANU-PF Masvingo Provincial Chairman and Provincial Affairs Minister, Cde Ezra Chadzamira urged people to rally behind Chiduwa whom he said is hard working and development oriented.  He appreciated the firm loyalty of Masvingo Province to ZANU-PF. He added that the Province has been upholding the party’s legacy since 1980, a statement that was reinforced by Home Affairs Deputy Minister, Lovemore Matuke who said that Masvingo  Province was a one party-state which has history of loyalty to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Cde Chadzamira informed the people that Government would soon deploy ZUPCO buses and establish People’s Shops in Zaka District to cushion them from the prevailing economic challenges. Chadzimira also assured the people that the food relief program would benefit all people in line with the El-Nino induced drought.

The Chairman promised that the distribution of Presidential Input Scheme would start earlier to cushion farmers against high prices of farming inputs. He added that he had tasked Chidawu to identify land for irrigation that will use water from the lying idle Manjirenji dam.

Speaking at the same rally, Chiduwa promised to develop the constituency saying ZANU-PF’s economic development is in line with the President’s vision 2030. He said he was dedicated to spearhead economic development as evidenced by drilling of boreholes, rehabilitation of roads, facilitation of the erection of mobile base stations in the constituency.
