Echoes against sanctions grow louder

….as October 25 approaches

Organisations and individuals continue to call for the removal of illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West, complementing SADC`s support for Zimbabwe’s fight against the economic embargo.

Posting on his twitter page, MDC-T Vice President, Obert Gutu said, “MDC-T salutes both SADC and the AU for standing on the side of the toiling masses of Zimbabwe, particularly when it comes to the call for the removal of sanctions against Zimbabwe. No amount of neo-colonialist and neo-imperialist machinations will make us sell our nationhood.”

Netizen, Paidamoyo Mutsvairo echoed the same sentiments posting, “Sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West affect the ordinary citizens, including the opposition members of who called for them. Let's all fight against them. There is need for urgent lifting of sanctions.”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is soon expected to address thousands of people who are set to gather for an anti-sanctions solidarity march in Harare. The march is in support of SADC member States who are calling for the removal of the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the United States and the European Union.

The solidarity march comes after SADC countries declared October 25 as a solidarity day against illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe and resolved to conduct various activities in their countries on the day to resoundingly call for the immediate removal of the sanctions.

The sanctions have crippled the economy, particularly the manufacturing industry, health and education sectors and blocking lines of credit critical in financing the country`s production.
