President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reiterated the need for peaceful constructive dialogue and encouraged Zimbabweans to shun violence in order to move the country forward.
Posting on his twitter handle today, President Mnangagwa said, “the recent national holidays remind us that our strongest asset is our unity. I reiterate my calls to all opposition leaders that my door remains open and my arms outstretched. Riots and destructive violence must be rejected. Peaceful constructive dialogue are the way forward.”
Responding to his tweet, netizens stated that they will rally behind President Mnangagwa’s message, indicating that peace, unity, love and development are the key pillars to the nation`s growth.
“Peace, unity, love and development are the key pillars to our nation`s growth, without those our nation can never prosper. We say no to causing despondency, violent acts and tarnishing our country`s image. Thank you for being an understanding and hardworking President,” tweeted Ntate Mdluli.
Another netizens, Godfrey Golide also tweeted supporting President Mnangagwa`s message.
“Your Excellency, I am behind you on that message, we as ordinary citizens have been sharing the same message 12 months running, there is nothing that citizens need besides peace and truthful in whatever field,” tweeted Golide.
Since President Mnangagwa was elected last year he has been calling for dialogue with all political parties that participated in the Presidential race, indicating that relations need to be rebuild in order to take the country forward.
Intransigent MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa has, however, remained adamant, refusing to participate in the national dialogue stating that he does not accept that he was defeated.
Meanwhile, the MDC party is planning to remove the constitutionally elected Government through violence in the name of peaceful demonstrations tomorrow. The Police have already issued a stamen highlighting that they had recovered catapults and stones that were being distributed to street kids at nocturnal hours, which weapons are to be used during the violent demonstrations.
