The Population Services Zimbabwe (PSZ ) poly clinic opened yesterday in Epworth will reduce maternal mortality through the provision of high quality integrated family planning services in line with the Government of Zimbabwe`s commitment made at the London FP2020 Global Summit in 2012, a Government official has said.
Speaking at the official opening of the clinic yesterday, minister of Health and Child Care (MOHCC), Dr Obadiah Moyo said: “Over the past three decades, Population Services Zimbabwe has evolved into a dependable partner for the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
“Its efficiency and effectiveness in the provision of integrated family planning services through innovative service delivery models echoes the Government`s endeavour to reduce maternal mortality through the provision of high quality integrated family planning services in line with the Government of Zimbabwe`s commitment made at the London FO2020 Global Summit in 2012.”
Dr Moyo said that one such commitment at the Global Summit was to increase the modern contraceptive rate from 59 percent to 68 percent by 2020.
Minister Moyo said that Epworth clinic was going to be a one-stop primary healthcare shop for all.
“With a service menu comprising the whole range of family planning and related reproductive health services, cervical cancer screening, HIV testing, and general consultations, PSZ Epworth Clinic will be a one-stop primary healthcare shop for all,” said Minister Moyo.
He expressed gratitude to PSZ for moving along with the Ministry`s vision of promoting primary health care.
The PSZ SRH/FP Project which is a strategic partner of the MOHCC is being supported by the Embassy of Sweden. The project was launched by the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa in May 2018.
