President Emmerson Mnangagwa has today sworn in eight new Commissioners for the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).
The appointed commissioners are former MDC Harare West legislator, Jessie Fungayi Majome, John Makamure, Mabel Ndakaripa Hungwe, Executive Member of Free and Fair Foundation Gabriel Chaibva, Tandiwe Thando Mlobane, Frank Muchengwa, Retired Major Micharil Dennis Santu and Kuziva Phineas Murapa.
Speaking on the side-lines of the event, Majome said the new commission was raring to go and ready to deal with corruption in all sectors, promising to leave no stone unturned in the fight against corruption.
“We will be leading ZACC under the able leadership of Justice Loice Matanda Moyo. I would like to believe that we are ready to go, we are raring to go because we need to sit down, plan our work and map our way forward so that we deal with corruption in all sectors, that is, the fuel sector, health sector, judicial sector, commercial sector, every sector,” she said.
She went on to say that, “Our role is to make sure that we leave no stone unturned. That we comb through our society and that we rid our society of corruption.”
Citizens have come out posting on their Twitter handles commending the appointments saying that they were fairly done and that this proves not to be a politically related.
Posting on his Twitter handle, netizen Richard Muzezuru said, “The appointment is fairly done. It seems the general citizenry is accepting the nomination by President Mnangagwa. Thank you for proving that the fight is not a ZANU PF thing, let us work together.”
ZACC is a body that has the constitutional mandate to fight corruption and the Commission is headed by Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo. It is administered under the Office of the President and Cabinet.
Addressing journalists at a recently held press conference in Harare, Justice Matanda-Moyo warned that ZACC would not hesitate to do all in its power to ensure that every case is investigated diligently without fear or favour.
