The United States Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ambassador Brian Nichols met with the new Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) Chairperson, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo yesterday and pledged support to the Government’s fight against corruption.
Upon her appointment, Justice Matanda-Moyo highlighted the need for support from all stakeholders in the fight against corruption which is contributing immensely to the economic challenges facing the country.
“My calling is to deliver the one thing we all want, a corrupt free Zimbabwe. This will be achieved if I get the right support,” she pledged.
Responding to her call, Ambassador Nichols met with Justice Matanda-Moyo and offered support to ZACC’s efforts to achieve a corrupt free Zimbabwe.
United States Embassy posted the meeting on its Twitter handle saying, “Ambassador Nichols met with the new ZACC Chair today and offered strong support to Zimbabwe’s anti-corruption efforts.”
ZACC confirmed the meeting on its Twitter handle and said, “The Chairperson of the Commission met with Ambassador Nichols today where he on behalf of the United States pledged to support our fight against corruption.”
The ZACC Chair was sworn in by President Emmerson Mnangagwa following the disbanding of the previous Commission, which President Mnangagwa described as ‘rotten to the core.’
