Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Obadiah Moyo yesterday inaugurated a new board for Chitungwiza Central Hospital, and implored them to shun corrupt tendencies and do everything in a transparent manner.

Minister Moyo appointed the following as the board members, veteran chemical pathologist and laboratory scientist, Professor Hilda T Matarira as board Chairperson, sales and marketing expert Mr Enock Moyo as Vice Chairperson, former councillor Mr Lameck Chibvongonze as board member, Chitungwiza Hospital CEO Dr Enock Maida as ex-officio board member and lawyer Mrs Patricia Mutetwa as a board member.

Minister Moyo said, “Corruption, lets fight corruption, let’s shun corruption. Do everything that you do in a transparent manner. Everything must be able to be audited and the auditor must find that the trail is clean. We want to make sure that every transaction that takes place in this institution can be accounted for, every transaction including recruitment of personnel including recruitment of the students has to be absolute. There has to be 100% transparency.”

He also encouraged the new board to work hard in line with new dispensation which is working hard to ensure that people get proper health care.

“We want people who are keen to work not keen to loaf. Loafers have got no opportunity, no chance in our system. You are the people on the ground. We as Government will come up with the policies and visions, so we expect you to carry the visions and the policies for actualisation.

“Government wants things to move forward, it wants people to get the proper health care service. You have to move in line with Government policy. As the first International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certified institution, you have that challenge to ensure that this hospital remains afloat in the ISO quality assurance level and not to go down,” he said.

Professor Matarira is the first female to be appointed board Chairperson of Chitungwiza Central Hospital. She promised that the new board will maintain up the hospital standards. Prof Matarira highlighted that Minister Moyo is there as their mentor and that they felt challenged to keep the hospital’s flag flying high.
