First Lady, Amai Auxilia Mnangagwa said sport could bring underprivileged children to realise that they are just part of the community.
Speaking at a fun day held at Harare Polytechnic today, Mai Mnangagwa said underprivileged children had a right to decent shelter and education.
The event comes against a backdrop of an upsurge of underprivileged children roaming in the streets of Harare.
Mai Mnangagwa has identified Chambita centre in Chiredzi where she wants to house the underprivileged children and impart them with life skills.
She said those of school going age would be absorbed in surrounding schools around Chambita.
Speaking at the event, Mai Mnangagwa said children could earn a living through sport.
She urged school children who had gathered at the event to mingle with underprivileged children so that they feel not neglected.
"My wish is to see every child have equal opportunity to shelter and education," she said.
She encouraged big clubs to be supportive of the event to scout for talent.
"My heart bleeds when I see underprivileged children being neglected," she said.
She said it is our responsibility to take care of them.
She encouraged men to be responsible for the children they sire.
"Kids are a gift from God, let's love them as the Almighty God does," she said.
Amai Mnangagwa took the opportunity to play traditional games such as nhondo and other games with the children.
She urged school children to engage in school work and avoid getting in relationships at a tender age.
Chief Director in the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Dr Benson Martin Dube said sports could quickly bring people together.
"Sport is a big vehicle that unite people," said Dube
He said sport had no racial discrimination.
He said Angel of Foundation could capitalize on the multi-billion industry adding that it was not only academic education that makes one earn a living but sport too.
Soccer legend, Moses Chunga gave an account of how he has managed to earn a living through soccer.
Angel of Hope Foundation's main focus is to uplift lives of disadvantaged children and other vulnerable members of society.
The Angel of Hope Foundation is about standing up and taking responsibility of Zimbabwe's future. Its core activity is the commitment to create a better future of the children irrespective of gender, race, religion, tribe, or economic status.
The Foundation was launched on the 17th of February 2018 and continues to do various life changing activities in various communities across the country.
