President Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to officially open the Zimbabwe Annual Mining Conference which will be held from 29 May to 1 June 2019 in Victoria Falls.
The conference’s theme, “Realising Vision 2030 through mineral resource led growth” and the entire programme have been designed to align private sector growth plans with Government narrative of Vision 2030.
Speaking at a press briefing recently, Zimbabwe Chamber of Mines President, Mr Batirai Manhando said a day will be dedicated to the gold and platinum symposiums.
“A day on the programme dedicated to Symposiums which will have intensive discussions on gold and platinum industries growth strategies in line with the need to unlock the potential in the two minerals.
“The session on the Gold industry will discuss strategies for achieving the Government gold output target of 100 tons by 2023 while the Platinum Session will explore strategies to achieve 50 tons of platinum by 2030 and maximise the contribution of platinum resources to the economy,” he said.
Speaking to the Harare Post, one of the organisers of the event who preferred anonymity said everything was all set for the event to start tomorrow.
“Everything is all set for the conference tomorrow. Some of the delegates have started arriving in Victoria Falls. This year’s event will be memorable with the hope of better outcomes from the event,” she said.
Expected to the event is an invited international speaker, Dr Eric Lilford, a seasoned minerals economist who is based in Perth, Australia, to share on best practice in leveraging on mineral resources for socio- economic development.
The outcome of the conference is expected to shape activities in the mining sector towards achieving Vision 2030.
