Parties urged to move away from election mode

One of the presidential advisors, Dr Shingi Munyeza has stated that our nation must move away from perpetual election mode to nation building following the weekend by-election which saw Zanu PF candidate Kidwell Mujuru winning with 1 899 votes.

Munyeza on his twitter account posted, “I hope political leaders will prioritize Electoral Reforms and use by-elections for compliance. Our nation must move away from perpetual election mode to nation building. We need a new thinking in our politics.”

In relation to that, Zimbabwean citizens have castigated MDC leader Nelson Chamisa for putting politics first before the needs of the people.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for a national dialogue with all the candidates that participated in the July 2018 Presidential elections, but Chamisa chose not to show up.

In his speech at the inaugural dialogue, President Mnangagwa highlighted that reforms are important and can be achieved when all the parties come together and map the way forward.

“There are reforms which we need to embark upon, which is where all of us come in to proffer ideas both for reforms and to make ourselves more attractive for investment. I challenge all of us to come up with ideas that can take our country forward,” he said.

However, Chamisa has refused to be part of the dialogue alleging that the elections were rigged. He also disputed the ruling of the constitutional court indicating that it was bias since the outcome was not in his favour.
