Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development Advocate Fortune Chasi has today called for Zimbabweans to donate cooking utensils to victims of Cyclone Idai.
Deputy Minister Chasi on his Twitter handle said women had lost most of their cooking utensils and needed assistance to be able to prepare meals.
“Good morning Zimbabwean women. Women in Chimanimani have lost all utensils. They do not even have spoons, pots or plates. Let us have a kitchen challenge. Donate kitchen ware to the Chimanimani victims. We are donating food but the Cyclone Idai victims are facing challenges when cooking it,” he said.
He went on to encourage people to join in the beat the pot challenge of collecting pots and pans.
Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services posted on its Twitter handle announcing that Zimbabwe was getting a lot of support from around the world.
“Tanzania so far has donated a plane load of relief and provisions. Another cargo plane full of relief supply was donated to the President whilst he was in Abu Dhabi is expected touch down today in Harare,” said the Ministry of Information.
Zimbabweans are committed in assisting the victims of Cyclone Idai through donations, yesterday an elderly woman from Mbare walked all the way to highlands Presbyterian Church in Harare carrying his donation of pots to cyclone victims.
Cyclone Idai has seen Zimbabweans uniting to assist the victims with all sorts of donations. So far donations have been coming in, in the form of food and cash among others. It is in the same spirit that Deputy Minister Chasi has asked for the donation of kitchen utensils.
