South African senior government officials are coming to Zimbabwe tomorrow ahead of next week’s third session of the Zimbabwe-South Africa Bi-National commission, (BNC). Harare Post has learnt.
South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa is expected in the country next Monday, where the two Presidents will discuss among other things business relations between the two neighboring countries.
The Deputy Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services confided in the Harare Post, that President Ramaphosa will visit the country early next week.
“The South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected in the country on 11March 2019 and will be on a two day working visit. The two Heads of State and Government are scheduled to discuss bilateral issues agreed on earlier, during the inauguration.
“President Emmerson Mnangagwa is geared to revive the economy through enforcing regional and international cooperation following many years of isolation. South Africa is our biggest trading partner in Africa and we expect discussions to focus around how the two countries can improve their trade ties and grow their economies,” said Mutodi.
He said the Third Session of the South Africa-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission would be held on 12 March 2019 at Meikles Hotel in the capital.
According to an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 11 March 2019, they will be a Ministerial meeting and a Senior Officials meeting on 7 and 8 March 2109.
Since his inauguration President Mnangagwa has been on the engagement drive.
Last week, he held Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission with Botswana President, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabatswe Masisi, in the capital where six Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) were signed.
Botswana pledged one billion pula (Equivalent to US$95 million dollars) and donated various pharmaceutical accessories to Zimbabwe.
