ZANU PF Chairperson for Samora Machel 2 District, Felistas Chegurei was left for dead last night after she was viciously attacked by MDC hooligans at her Stoneridge residence in Harare.
The Harare Post has learnt that seven MDC Alliance supporters wearing masks and armed with sticks, sjamboks and iron bars coated with barbed wires went to Chegurei’s house during the wee hours of the night and smashed her house windows. The assailants also broke the door to gain entrance.
They strangled Chegurei and stabbed her four times on her left thigh. This was done in the full glare of her children and other relatives who were in the house. The children screamed to alert the neighbours. This resulted in the hoodlums running away, not before they stole a gas tank, mobile phone, solar panel, cash and other items.
The matter was reported to ZRP Southlea Park. No arrests had been made by the time of writing this article.
However, the Harare Post is in possession of names of the suspected attackers. These are Ngoni Mushonga who is Zimbabwe National Army deserter now working in the MDC security, Last Chibhuracho who was involved in other several incidences of violence in the area, Alexander Makuna and Isaac Madzima who is the MDC Harare South District Organising Secretary.
Also implicated in the violence is Tatenda Kadumba who is a suspect in the murder of the Police Inspector, Petros Mutedza in 2011 in Budiriro.
A former Police officer who is masquerading as a member of the Central Intelligence Organisation in Harare South, Tasekwa Zhou is also alleged to have been involved together with Jealous Mugauri, a jail bird who has been involved in a myriad of violence.
The violence is believed to have been prompted by the need to control the Boka Market stalls as tobacco auction floors are expected to open in March.
Meanwhile, an MDC activist, Petros Marange physically assaulted ZANU PF Mufakose Karikoga District Chairperson, Blessing Gurupira at Gwenyambire Business Centre in Mufakose.
Circumstances are that the two were playing table pool on Monday when Marange accused Gurupira of wasting his time supporting ZANU PF, a party he said was “dead.” Marange attacked Gurupira with clenched fists and tore his clothes resulting in the later losing three teeth and sustaining head injuries. The matter was reported to ZRP Marimba.
Violence is in the DNA of the MDC as its members are involved in inter and intra party violence. Recently the MDC attacked journalists at a rally at Mkoba Stadium in Gweru. The MDC has shown lack of tolerance for anyone with a different political view. MDC-T leader, Dr Thokozani Khupe fell victim to the MDC violence at the late Morgan Tsvangirai’s funeral. Leader of the Coalition of Democrats (CODE) and one of the founding members of MDC, Elton Mangoma also fell to the MDC hooliganism at Harvest House.
Violence is institutional in the MDC, such that they came up with a militant group, the Vanguard which is unleashed onto anyone who opposes the leadership.
