Top Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (Zesa) Executives involved in corruption at the company face the fury of the law and disciplinary hearing following the release of the much awaited forensic audit results, the Harare Post can reveal.
Investigations made by this publication established that only three copies of the highly confidential audit results document has been released only for the appraisal and subsequent action by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the Special Anti-Corruption Unit and the Central Investigation Department (CID).
Investigations gathered that forensic audit results will claim the scalp of at least 10 out of the 16 suspended top managers.
In an interview, the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Dr Joram Gumbo revealed to the Harare Post that the audit results are still confidential as the President is the first recipient. He said it would be made public once the Presidium has been appraised because the audit was brought into play by a Cabinet resolution.
He confirmed that since the tabling of the results by the auditors late January 2019, only the President, CID and the Special anti- corruption unit have been handed over copies of the audit results.
“I will continue saying that this audit was not called upon for my personal consumption but for the Cabinet to know. In that light, those found on the wrong side of the law will surely face the fury and rage of the laws of the land,” said Minister Gumbo.
Sources who managed to peruse the audit results revealed to the Harare Post that a number of suspended managers are facing arrests as the CID in conjunction with the Special Anti-Corruption unit are already opening more dockets based on the audit findings.
