People from across the board have welcomed the resignation of Commissioners of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission as they called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to ensure a more robust and result oriented anti-graft body is installed.
Jones Musara took to his Twitter handle saying, “Now that the Bob appointed ineffective ZACC has resigned enmass at the instigation of the President following ZACC’s failure to secure conviction of corruption suspects, President ED will appoint a new effective and hard-line ZACC to rakasha huwori.”
Kudzai Mutisi highlighted President Mnangagwa’s pledge to fight corruption since his inauguration.
“The fight against corruption is very important to President Mnangagwa, since he took office he has been frustrated by the lack of convictions in our courts due to the complacency of ZACC Commissioners and the Prosecutor General (PG). With a new ZACC and a new PG, we are hopeful,” said Mutisi.
Patrick Zuva bemoaned the lack of results exhibited by the ZACC and posted on his Twitter account saying, “Good riddance. I don't remember them doing anything of note, a pathetic waste of State resources.”
The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting also posted on its Twitter handle that “the anti-corruption drive has been given renewed impetus, following the resignation of all the ZACC Commissioners. President Mnangagwa will appoint a new Chairman in terms of Sec 254 (1a) of the Constitution and request nominees from the SROC for the rest of the Commissioners.”
Optimistic of a more robust and result oriented new ZACC, Mutisi said, “With President Mangagwa enthusiastic about kurakasha huwori as shown by his appointment of a hawkish new Prosecutor-General, Zimbabwe can expect a new hawkish ZACC as well. Pamberi nekurakasha huwori!”
