Maimane slated for reckless political statements

The leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), Mmusi Maimane is making reckless statements on Zimbabwe calling for a probe by ICC, a Cabinet Minister has said.

On his twitter handle, Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting, Energy Mutodi said the Ministry had noted Maimane’s reckless statements on Zimbabwe.

“We note some reckless statements by DA’s Mmusi Maimane who is funded by ex-Rhodesians unhappy with our land reform, suggesting that Zimbabwe needs an ICC probe to which it is not a signatory. Nowhere in the world including South Africa and the United States has anarchy been condoned under the guise of protest,” said the Minister.

Speaking on his twitter handle, Mmatigari also said recently that Maimane had been barred on his Zambian visit by Zambian President Edgar Lungu over his reckless approach to political issues.

“Maimane is finished. His DA bosses want him out! Remember he was barred by Lungu in Zambia for same mischief!” said Mmatigari

Harare Post has learnt that Maimane is just a mere opposition leader who does not have any basis to call for Zimbabwe to be hauled to the ICC. Currently Maimane should ask himself why he seems to collaborate with ZCTU but at the same time he works at cross purpose with COSATU in South Africa.

The intended visit to Zimbabwe by Maimane to meet MDC Alliance over the recent disturbances is an effort to assist MDC Alliance to tarnish the image of Zimbabwe to the international community and further call for more sanctions.
