The rise in fuel prices has been applauded by some citizens indicating that the precious liquid which was now scarce a situation which was exacerbated by black market has been resolved.
Speaking in an interview with Harare Post today a commuter omnibus simply known as Kabila said, “The announcement of fuel prices by President Emmerson Mnangagwa will bring sanity to the fuel saga. The fuel dealers were now doing injustice to the price of fuel.”
“Can you imagine five litres of fuel going for $37 dollars? This contributed to the scarcity of the precious liquid. Fuel attendees would also contribute by holding the liquid so that they could give it to their friends in crime who are the fuel dealers,” he said.
A motorist who refused to be named revealed to Harare Post that the people who want to cause instability in the country over the rise of fuel are those who benefited from selling fuel on black market.
He said, “It is so sad that some citizens just join the battles which they do not know where they are coming from. The people causing violence are just a handful. This number is the one that is influencing people to do what they term a ‘shut down ‘on social media. I urge Zimbabweans not to entertain these people.”
President Mnangagwa announced a 150 percent fuel increase on Friday as a way of making fuel available in the country.
