People have welcomed the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) partnership with Joy Media Incorporated (JMI), which is with effect from December 2018. The partnership is set to re-launch Joy TV.
Filmmaker and Producer, Zororo Makamba is very optimistic and positive about working with ZBC in re-launching JOY TV. Commenting on his twitter handle, Zororo said “this will be a fantastic opportunity to create jobs in the media industry, boost capacity production houses, and provide a mainstream platform to showcase talent.”
Farai Ian Muvuti applauded the partnership on his twitter handle saying, “Congratulations Zororo, I think it’s the best way forward. The sharing of infrastructure and skill capital will yield better outcomes. This is precisely what the country needs.”
A joint statement by ZBC and JMI stated that “Joy TV will run as a 24hr family entertainment channel that will air local and foreign content. It is set to air a wide variety of genres that will include but will not be limited to current affairs programming, sitcoms, series, movies, reality shows, talk shows, game shows, travel and tourism, nature and wildlife among others.
“The establishment of this venture will go beyond enhancing the face of Zimbabwe television, but will help contribute toward vision 2030 by way of employment creation for Zimbabwe’s many young talented creative producers,” read the statement.
Meanwhile ZBC is preparing for a digital switch over, a move that will see the national broadcaster introducing six new television channels.
