ZANU PF Acting National Political Commissar and Secretary for Finance, Cde Patrick Chinamasa yesterday boasted of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s achievements in the new dispensation, which he said had positively transformed the economy.

The Commissar promised that he would find time to highlight the achievements attained so far in all sectors of the country’s economy.

“What ZANU PF wants you to know free of charge, is that the President and First Secretary of ZANU PF, Cde E.D Mnangagwa has been since assuming the high office in the Second Republic and under our very eyes, has taken head on the transformation of the economy of Zimbabwe in a manner none of us believed would be possible in such a short time. I shall have occasions in future to give blow by blow the achievements so far attained in all sectors of the country’s economy,” said Cde Chinamasa at a press conference.

He went on to introduce a new word, “Juggernaut” which he used to describe the achievements by President Mnangagwa as having transformed the Party.

“His Excellency’s achievements have transformed ZANU PF into a Juggernaut political machine steamrollering and unstoppable towards electoral victory in 2023. It is on the strength of these achievements that ZANU PF’s political campaign to win the 2023 Presidential and Legislative Harmonised Elections is powerful, overwhelming, dominant and unstoppable,” said Cde Chinamasa.

Cde Chinamasa highlighted that ZANU PF Party was people-centred and that the national sovereignty was not negotiable.

“The Revolutionary Party is geared to fulfil its revolutionary mandate and throw the sanctions seekers, the anti-people political charlatans, and the anti-land redistribution counter revolutionaries into the dustbin of history. National Sovereignty is not negotiable. ZANU PF is and will remain people centred and embedded in all society," he said.

He added: “That is the historical reality and ZANU PF’s political advantage and we make no apologies for this to anyone. So to our President, we say remain strong, steadfast and do not flinch.”

This was Cde Chinamsa’s first Press Conference after being appointed Acting National Political Commissar. He was flanked by former political commissars Cde Webster Shamu, Cde Engelbert Rugeje and Ambassador Designate to the Republic of Mozambique Cde Victor Matemadanda.

Cde Chinamasa said their presence was symbolic and also to demonstrate and emphasise that in the Party there is continuity. He said once a Commissar always a Commissar and urged them to continue propagating the ideology, values and ethos of ZANU PF.
