ZimTrade, the national trade development and promotion organisation of Zimbabwe is conducting an export survey in the SADC region to promote the export of Zimbabwean products to neighboring countries.
On its Twitter handle, ZimTrade said it was in the process of identifying untapped export market opportunities for Zimbabwean industries in Malawi.
“Zimbabwe’s proximity to Malawi offers untapped export opportunities for local industries. The ongoing market survey we are undertaking will evaluate the logistics of supplying goods to Malawi, examine the distribution channels used and the margins being charged in the respective routes,” said the trade organization.
ZimTrade also said the survey being conducted in Malawi was going to establish the products and services required in that country as well as the importers of Zimbabwean products.
“Our team is undertaking a market survey in Malawi to explore export opportunities and establish the viability of exporting to Malawi. The survey will identify products and services with market potential in Malawi and the respective potential importers/buyers,” said ZimTrade.
A survey conducted in Botswana, it was concluded that 90% to 95% of goods and products in Botswana are imported.
