Zimbabwe will host the International Chromium Development Association (ICDA) conference next month with international delegates from the chromium industry in a move aimed at boosting chrome value addition and marketing, the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development has said.
The Ministry of Mines said this on its twitter handle that the event which shall be held at Victoria Falls will also mark ICDA’s 35th Anniversary and attract close to 200 delegates.
“Zimbabwe is going to host the International Chromium Development Association conference in Victoria Falls from 7-9 May 2019. The event will mark ICDA’s 35th Anniversary. It will be attended by 200 high profile delegates from the world chromium industry value chain,” said the Ministry of Mines.
The Ministry of Mines also said the country was number two in the world in terms of chrome ore deposits and as such, it should be on the forefront to interact with experts in this field and access marketing opportunities.
“Zimbabwe holds the second largest chrome ore reserves in the world. The conference will provide an exceptional opportunity for delegates to get viewpoints from a diversified panel of experts including Government leaders, independent analysts and market representatives,” said the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development.
Harare Post has learnt that Government is making efforts to ensure the country’s mining sector becomes productive through value addition and international investment which in turn should contribute to economic development and fulfilment of the vision 2030.
