…as the parastatal goes on the mend

National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) Headquarters in Bulawayo is inviting qualified candidates to take up various posts that have arisen in the Parastatal as a result of its turnaround strategy.
The NRZ Human Resource Manager indicated that applicants were to first take up various apprenticeships in various trades which have arisen in the Parastatal.
“NRZ 2019 apprenticeship intake applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who wish to train as apprentices with the NRZ in the following trades, turner machinist, coach and body builder, blacksmith, electrician, diesel plant fitter, fitter, millwright, instrument mechanic, platter welder, turner machinist, coach painter and signal artisan,” said the Manager.
Harare Post has learnt that the applicants should be less than 25 years of age, minimum of Five ‘O’ levels including Maths and English and also be in possession of a Driver’s or Leaner’s Licence.
Since the New Dispensation, the President of Zimbabwe has emphasised on economic advancement and creation of more jobs and jobs. NRZ has partnered with a South African investor, Transnet and the Diaspora Infrastructure Development Group (DIDG). Since the advent of the new dispensation, $400 million has been injected into NRZ to undertake its turnaround strategy.
NRZ is now a success story. With its advantage of being the cheapest mode of transport, its recapitalisation encourages cheaper transportation for bulk exports which Government seeks to utilise to revitalise the economy through agriculture, mining and the manufacturing sector which of late has been given $10 million to increase productivity.
