CCC attempts to discredit Zim elections condemned

Speaking to this publication political analyst, Terrence Chipwanya expressed utter disgust at the attempts by the CC to cast aspersions of doubt at the obvious ZANUP PF victory by sowing seeds of discontent to other Election Observer Missions (EOM) as the country approaches its plebiscite.

“We are aware of the attempts by CC to influence other EOMs by skewing their observations of the upcoming Harmonised General elections against ZANU PF.

“They intend to do this by raising issues that have already been addressed by the relevant stakeholders such as, the delimitation process which the courts ruled against MDC T leader Douglas Mwonzora and by discrediting the smooth voter registration process that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and the Central Registry Department jointly facilitated unrestricted access to all,” said Chipwanya.

Chipwanya further denounced CC’s attack on the country’s Private Voluntary Bill (PVO) and the Patriotic Bill stating that it exposes its ill-intentions of destroying the country and the ruling ZANU PF Party.

“The Patriotic Bill and the PVO are not by any chance restricting the country’s democratic space; in fact they protect the country from external interferences.

“It boggles the mind that it is in order for the United States a supposed proponent of democracy to own and enforce the Patriotic Act and yet it becomes a draconian and prohibitive bill when Zimbabwe enacts its own.

Furthermore, Chapwanya rebuffed interests by the CC Chief of Party, Lawrence Larry Garber to observe the country’s elections, stating that his major intention would be to fuel disharmony and cause chaos in the country’s peaceful election mode that currently exists in the country.

“CC should not be accredited to observe the country’s election as it is tantamount to rolling a Trojan horse into the country which will fuel disharmony and chaos, prior, during and post 23 August elections. His intentions are clear, to cultivate an environment of doubt in the obvious event that ZANU PF wins the elections,” he said.

Meanwhile, ZEC has already notified all interested applicants wishing to observe the country’s elections to submit their applications for accreditation to the Chief Elections Officer at ZEC Head Office by the 18 of August 2023, where after considerations applicants will be notified as to whether or not their applications are successful.
