Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe (THZ) is funding a rebel pressure group to reverse the gains of the Land Reform Program and the ongoing efforts to amend the Sugarcane Production Act of 1964, which among other provisions, gives the sugar producer milling monopoly and other unfair business practices, a source has said.

The Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) yesterday called for the intensification of measures aimed at curbing the spread of the Corona virus, amid a spike in the number of cases in Africa. The First Ladies said this during an OAFLAD high level webinar held yesterday via the virtual Zoom platform, under the theme “The Health and socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19 on achieving African universal health coverage”.

Citizens have condemned the duplicity of the opposition party, MDC-Alliance, for failing to accept the arrest of its own members on corruption, whilst at the same time accusing Government of not doing enough to curb the vice. This comes after the arrest of Harare City Council (HCC) Mayor, Herbert Gomba, yesterday on allegations of illegal land deals and abuse of office.

The mayor of the City of Harare, Councillor Herbert Gomba has been picked up by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) from his home in Glen Norah, today in connection with murky land deals and abuse of office.
