The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) is set to conduct career guidance sessions in Masvingo Province from February 10 to 22, 2025, aimed at informing prospective recruits about the various career opportunities available within the army.
This initiative is part of the ZNA's ongoing commitment to advancing social equity across the country by providing essential career information to the youth.
The career guidance is aimed at enhancing the organisation’s commitment towards the advancement of social equity throughout the country by providing information about career opportunities in the ZNA.
"The recruitment drive will target exam classes and recent school leavers in an effort to inform them about potential career paths within the army, including officer cadets, general duty soldiers, and specialist soldiers," said Major Chiadzwa.
The 4 Infantry Brigade, which is responsible for recruitment exercises in Masvingo Province, has planned a series of sessions to enlighten potential candidates about the career prospects within the ZNA.
The first session will take place at Mwenezi Government High School on February 10, 2025, from 8 AM to 11 AM, followed by another session at Maranda High School on February 11, 2025.
Schools located near these venues are also encouraged to attend.
“Through past recruitment exercises, it was observed that some candidates from Mwenezi were not aware of the employment opportunities and the general recruitment activities undertaken by the Army. It is for this reason that we are requesting to conduct career guidance at selected schools in the district,” added Major Chiadzwa.
In addition to recruitment guidance, the ZNA will also take the opportunity to conduct mine awareness sessions and educate the youth on the effects of drug and substance abuse.
These efforts are in line with the ZNA’s broader mission of promoting safety and well-being among the youth.
Prospective recruits who are interested in joining the ZNA as regular officer cadets are invited to submit their application letters during the career guidance sessions.
“Those willing to join the ZNA as regular officer cadets are also advised to take this opportunity to hand over their application letter to the career guidance staff,” Major Chiadzwa added.
The career guidance sessions are an important step in ensuring that youths in Masvingo Province are well-informed about the opportunities available to them within the ZNA and can make well informed decisions about their future careers.
