According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the assailants managed to steal possessions and injured victim(s).
“Two unknown suspects who were armed with two pistols pounced at the house and stole USD 45 000.00 cash. During the incident, one occupant was shot on the chest and is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital in Bulawayo,” reads the ZRP statement.
ZRP has since launched an urgent investigation into the incident, appealing for information from the public on the robbery and emphasizing the importance of community vigilance in the face of such violence.
Residents of Habane Township are grappling with the implications of this crime, fearing for their safety and questioning how such an incident could occur in their close-knit community.
“It is shocking, and I fear for our safety, as this has never happened here before. I hope the authorities (ZRP) will arrest these criminals,” said a resident, Ntando, not his real name but adopted on confidentiality grounds.
Many are now taking extra precautions, with some discussing the possibility of forming neighbourhood watch groups to deter future crimes.
As the investigation unfolds, the ZRP is working diligently to gather evidence and identify the suspects, hoping that community cooperation will lead to swift justice.
The community’s resilience and solidarity will be crucial in restoring a sense of security in Habane Township as they confront the aftermath of this harrowing event.
Meanwhile, the recent robbery occurs while Bulawayo and the entire nation are still reeling from the shocking heist where brazen thieves disarmed Safeguard security personnel and made off with US$4 million from Ecobank.
