President Emmerson Mnangagwa has praised the church for its vital role in advancing Zimbabwe's modernisation, industrialisation, and economic growth.

His message was delivered by, Minister of Defence and ZANU PF National Chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri during the Gospel of God International 1932 annual convention held in Gandanzara, Rusape, this Monday.

In his address, President Mnangagwa commended the church for its commitment to promoting unity and contributing to national development.

"Let us as a nation continue to draw inspiration from Psalm 133 verse 1, which says, ‘How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.’ The church is applauded for its dedication to modernizing, industrializing, and growing our economy.

“I urge you Zimbabweans to seek peace and prosperity for the nation,” he said adding that national progress would benefit everyone.

The President called upon Zimbabweans to take control of their destiny through hard work and productivity, emphasizing the importance of Christian values in this process.

"Proverbs 14 verse 23 reminds us that ‘All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.’ The church must continue to instill these values in its congregants, working alongside the Second Republic towards the collective good of the country," he added.

President Mnangagwa encouraged citizens to honor their legacy by contributing to the nation's strength.

"Together, let us make Zimbabwe strong. The sweat, suffering, and blood of those who fought for our liberation led to the independence, freedom, and integrity we enjoy today," he stated.

The President also addressed the urgent need to combat drug and substance abuse, which has become a serious issue among the youth.

"Help cultivate Christian, moral, and ethical values, build strong families, and promote community cohesion. Let us join hands in fighting social ills like drug and substance abuse affecting our communities," he urged.

In addition to this, Government highlighted key milestones in various sectors of the economy and encouraged the church to collaborate with the ruling Zanu PF party in the nation-building process, as Zimbabwe moves towards achieving its developmental goals.
