President Emmerson Mnangagwa launched the Munhumutapa Housing Scheme in Masvingo today (Sunday), a landmark youth empowerment initiative that will provide over 2,000 serviced residential stands to young people in the province.

This project is a key element of the Government’s broader strategy to secure the future of Zimbabwe's youth, aligning with the national goal of achieving an upper-middle-income society by 2030.

During the launch, President Mnangagwa toured the site, which is currently being serviced to prepare for the distribution of stands. Speaking at the event, he reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to youth empowerment.

“We are here to launch a project that will benefit our youths by providing housing stands. As a Government, we will support them to ensure the success of all their programs. Any country that looks to the future, with hope for survival and development, must invest in its youth. Today, we assure our youths that we are here for them, and we remain committed to their empowerment,” said President Mnangagwa.

He further highlighted that his administration views the project as a critical step in addressing the housing needs of young people, ensuring they are not left behind as the country progresses.

“The Munhumutapa Housing Scheme spans 250 hectares of land in the Victoria Range Extension Suburb and will yield a total of 2,317 housing stands.

“As the first in a series of such initiatives, this project will serve as a model to be replicated in other provinces across the nation. Government’s intent is clear to empower young people not only by providing housing but also by giving them the tools and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the country's development,” President Mnangagwa explained.

Furthermore, President Mnangagwa urged young people to remain united and contribute actively to the development of Zimbabwe, honoring the legacy of the previous generation of youths who fought for the country’s independence.

“As youths, let us be remembered for fostering peace amongst ourselves and working towards the betterment of our nation. Leaders, no matter their position, must unite people through humility.

“The Munhumutapa Housing Scheme is part of this broader youth empowerment agenda, which seeks to equip young people with the resources they need to build sustainable livelihoods while contributing to the nation's socio-economic growth,” President Mnangagwa emphasized.

By providing housing, Government hopes to address one of the most pressing challenges faced by the youth, thereby fostering stability and encouraging them to actively participate in the country's development.

Through the Munhumutapa Housing Scheme, the Second Republic continues to demonstrate its commitment to securing a prosperous future for Zimbabwe's youth, ensuring they are empowered to lead the country towards a brighter tomorrow.
