The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) handed over a newly constructed administration block to Kuwadzana 2 High School yesterday, marking the commencement of the 2024 ZDF Community Assistance Week.

Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri officiated at the event and highlighted the critical role of the ZDF in national development through community projects.

She emphasized the importance of collective efforts in nation-building, reflecting President Mnangagwa’s development philosophy.

“This initiative has shown us what communities, organizations, and individuals can achieve when they work together in harmony. Every one of us has a role to play in the development of Zimbabwe,” Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri said.

Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri commended the collaborative spirit that led to the successful completion of the administration block.

“The achievements of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Community Assistance Programme serve as yet another reminder that when motivated by a shared purpose and vision, Zimbabweans are capable of mobilizing resources to better their communities,” she stated.

Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri also highlighted other ZDF community projects across the country, including the construction of classroom blocks in Matabeleland North and Midlands provinces and the rebuilding of Charles Lwanga School in Chimanimani, which was destroyed by Cyclone Idai.

“Our collaboration with communities and stakeholders in developmental projects is consistent with the President’s development philosophy. We are determined to support the Vision 2030 Agenda by contributing to national development and ensuring that no one and no place is left behind,” she said.

Harare’s Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Charles Tawengwa, praised the ZDF for their dedication to national development.

“This grand occasion confirms our collective determination to achieve upper middle-income status by 2030,” he stated.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Torerayi Moyo assured the community that the administration block would be protected against vandalism and expressed hope for continued assistance from the ZDF.

“We will ensure that the administration block you handed over today will be jealously guarded against any forms of vandalism. We will continue knocking on your door for assistance,” he said.

The newly inaugurated administration block, constructed with the expertise of ZDF engineers and artisans, is a modern facility designed to serve as the school’s administrative hub.

It features a large staff room, canteen, sick bays, a boardroom, and a computer lab, all aimed at providing a conducive working environment for the staff and enhancing the overall learning experience.
