Government is set to distribute fishing rigs to Binga District, with the aim to enhance its local fishing industry and economically empower the residents.

This initiative, led by President Mnangagwa, is part of a broader effort to improve the people’s livelihoods and ensure food security in the region.

Binga District Development Coordinator, Siansole Kabome, recently inspected the rigs that will soon be handed over to local chiefs and youth groups, marking a significant step towards community development.

This distribution is particularly targeted at increasing the fishing capacity of the district, which is vital for both economic activity and food supply.

"The distribution of these fishing rigs is pivotal in the Government’s efforts to empower the local communities by boosting their primary economic activities. This will not only aid in food self-sufficiency but will also provide sustainable income sources for our people," stated Kabome during his inspection.

Local leaders that include Chief Kavula, Chief Sinamagonde, Chief Binga, and Chief Sikalenge, are among the beneficiaries of the rigs, which they had not received during the initial phase of the project.

Additionally, two rigs will be allocated specifically to youth beneficiaries, aligning with the Government's focus on youth empowerment.

Residents of the district expressed their gratitude and optimism regarding the initiative.

Nokuthaba Dube, a local fisher remarked, "We are eager to receive these rigs as they will greatly enhance our fishing practices and help us better support our families."

Sikhumbuzo Moyo, another local, added, "This support from the Government is a game-changer for us. It will transform our community by providing the tools we need to thrive."

Through such initiatives, the Government reaffirms its commitment to developing key sectors across the country, fostering economic growth, and improving the lives of its citizens, particularly in rural areas like Binga District.
