Gvt set to launch Gukurahundi Outreach Programme

All is set for the launch of the Gukurahundi Outreach Programme in Bulawayo, the Harare Post has learnt. 

According to a well-placed source at the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Government will soon launch the Gukurahundi Outreach Programme this July 2024, at State House, in Bulawayo at an occasion to be graced by President E.D. Mnangagwa.

The launch of the Gukurahundi Outreach Programme is a commitment, following the occasion of the interface by President Mnangagwa and the Chiefs from Matabeleland North and South, together with the National Council of Chiefs, which was held at State House in Bulawayo on 26 January 2024, seeking to accomplish the Gukurahundi Community Engagement Programme.

Speaking to this publication, a source said the preparatory meetings for the hosting of the event were already underway.

“Here in Harare at our Ministry, we are already preparing for the launch of the Gukurahundi Outreach Programme in Matabeleland South to be held this July 2024 on a date to be announced, the final preparatory meeting is going to be held in Bulawayo,” said the source.

The launch of the Gukurahundi Outreach Programme is a result of the proceedings from the National Council of Chiefs that assembled a decisive meeting on 26 January 2024 at Bulawayo State House to consider and deliberate the advancement of the on-going Gukurahundi Community Engagement Programme which it is spearheading.

Going forward, the Gukurahundi Community Engagement Programme seeks to address the historical grievances and foster national healing, unity and reconciliation.
