ZANU PF Treasurer General, Patrick Chinamasa has made it clear to the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa that the nation would not hold a rerun following the 23 August harmonised general elections that saw ZANU PF romping to victory.
On his X handle, Chinamasa posted that the August 23, 2023, elections were free and fair and there was no need for a rerun.
“I ask the Triple C Class and its prefect, Nelson Chamisa, to repeat after me the following: that the 23rd of August 2023 was free, fair, transparent, and credible; that there will be no rerun of the elections; that there will be no Government of National Unity (GNU); that there will be no so-called Transitional Authority (whatever that may mean); and that Zimbabwe, under ZANU PF`s watch, will never be a banana republic,” said Chinamasa.
Chinamasa further stated that ZANU PF would never accept neocolonialism.
“ZANU PF will forever say no to neo-colonialism and hegemonies and an emphatic no to subjugation by sanctions-imposing Western countries that Zimbabwe will never, never, never be a colony again. Those who have eyes, let them have eyes, and those who have ears, let them have ears,” he said.
Meanwhile, a former MDC (now CCC) member who is now a commissioner of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), Gabriel Chaibva, has attacked Chamisa, highlighting that the latter was a novice in politics.
“Chamisa is too small for Zimbabwe. I see what the opposition lacks in the history of our country. I used to be a blind follower of opposition politics, but one day it dawned on me that our history is painful. That`s why ZANU PF is serious. I will never listen to any opposition,” he said.
Chamisa and his CCC party lost the 23 August harmonised general elections, and they have been pushing for a SADC-facilitated national dialogue that they hope will result in the formation of a transitional authority.
