The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)’s top leadership led by Amos Chibaya, the National Organising Secretary is originating fake asylum application letters for its supporters for them to settle in the diaspora, Harare Post has learnt.
An impeccable contact within the CCC told this publication that the party agreed in a meeting held on 07 September 2023 in Harare, to facilitate for its supporters to leave the country in large numbers through fake asylum application letters to countries like the United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK) and other western countries.
This move is meant to convince western countries that CCC supporters are under attack in the country from ZANU PF supporters, hence should be accorded asylum status outside the country.
The contact revealed to this publication that Chibaya was solely instructed by Nelson Chamisa, to make sure that those letters are produced enmasse for their persecution narrative to be believable.
“In a meeting held here in Harare it was agreed that CCC supporters should flood western countries with fake asylum application letters so that they get asylum status”, the contact said.
The contact further said that the idea was to perpetuate to the world the narrative that things were not well in post-election Zimbabwe, as CCC members were being allegedly persecuted for propagating that Chamisa won the elections.
Further details that emerged are that CCC wants more of its supporters in the diaspora so that if they get employed they would be able to fund the party’s operations back home in preparations of the 2028 elections.
So far it is alleged that more than 1000 letters have been produced by Chibaya assisted by Joanna Mamombe, the Harare West Constituency Member of Parliament.
Efforts to verify this information from either Chibaya or Mamombe were unsuccessfully as the duo was not picking up their calls.
