Allegations have emerged claiming that the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has entered into a partnership with Trevor Ncube's Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) to disseminate information suggesting that the recently concluded elections were rigged in favour of ZANU PF.
An undisclosed source spoke to our publication, alleging that CCC leader Nelson Chamisa pinpointed AMH as the media group capable of aiding the party in maintaining the narrative that the elections lacked fairness.
The source went on to say that AMH's newspaper, The Standard, is set to publish an article tomorrow that will hint at the Zimbabwean security services running a parallel voter tabulation during the recent elections.
This upcoming article, the source suggests, aims to damage the reputation of the security services by painting them in a light that suggests alignment with the ruling ZANU PF.
The narrative woven into the content will apparently lead readers to believe that the security services meddled in the electoral process, resulting in a disadvantageous situation for the CCC.
Furthermore, the same informant claimed that Ncube has allegedly been financially incentivized to transform his media conglomerate into the official voice for the CCC.
Elaborating on the inside dynamics, the source commented, "CCC are under intense scrutiny and pressure from their handlers. There's a strong push for them to engage with regional bodies like SADC and the African Union. The objective is to cast doubt on the election results that saw President Mnangagwa secure his position with 52.6% of the vote."
Meanwhile, the waters appear murky within the CCC ranks. Word on the street has it that internal dissent is brewing. Some members purportedly hold Chamisa responsible for the party's electoral setback, with murmurs suggesting that the party's downfall was due to an absence of a clear campaign strategy.
